Hello!
I’m Dianna. I am a grown up Disney princess, avid reader of enemies- or friends-to-lovers romcoms, self-proclaimed art enthusiast, and trying not to get distracted so I can get back to…oh right. I’m supposed to be writing. 😁
I’ve always facetiously considered myself a walking contradiction - a lover and craftswoman of words, yet terrible at public speaking; a believer of hope and optimism who always errs on the side of logic rather than emotion; a sucker for happy endings, especially for the villain; smart and a blonde!
I digress.
But as light and bright and happy as I come across, I do tend to be drawn more towards villains than heroes. The complicated and complex nature of the so-called “bad guy” is my absolute JAM! I always wonder what happened to make them the way they are. Is there a hidden beacon of light beneath layers of darkness, and what are they protecting it from? In my experience, it’s the damaged ones who always have the best stories.
I think that’s why I tend to write characters that are more human than idealistic. I believe that our flaws are our greatest strengths, and mistakes should be embraced. Without all of our trials and tribulations, how would we grow? We, as a species, are incredibly vulnerable and so terribly strong at the same time, and the turbulent journey from the bottom up just always feels like a great, layered story to me. Just don’t hold it against me if my characters happen to veer off in a not-so-moral direction sometimes.
After all, nobody’s perfect, right?
